About Us

The Caterpillar Club is a rowing and social club, centred around the Cheltenham College rowing community. Whether you rowed for College or have started since, were a parent or staff you are welcome here. We exist to bring the community together and provide encouragement and support to the current pupils.

We hope that as each pupil makes their journey through Cheltenham College they get a chance to experience the benefits and rewards that our time on the river gave us.

All members will gets news and updates from the current squads along with access to the Boathouse and events during the year.

The J15 Girls coxed quad (4x+) delivered a standout performance at the Avon Spring Head of the River Race on 1st March, securing a commanding victory in their event.

Three crews represented College at our first race of the season on Saturday, Worcester Head. Due to such a wet start to the new year, the crews were limited to only two water training sessions before tackling the 4.6km race.

Starting the new season off with a bang! The entire Boat Club competed at the King’s Indoor Competition and brought home a host of medals.

Rowing, reflections from the river

  • My best memory of the season was beating Monckton Combe school in the first round of the Princess Elizabeth Cup at Henley Royal, which is as far as I have progressed at that Regatta since, despite several subsequent attempts during the 80s, however to be fair the standard at Henley has become much higher of latter years
